I found this Black-owned jewelry brand on Instagram (I think through one of my favorite influencers @DomNTheCity). I have been drooling over them ever since.
Jam + Rico connects its jewelry wearers to the Caribbean with everything from the name of the company (a combination of Jamaica and Puerto Rico) to the colors and shapes of the pieces. Each collection is named for an island and evokes feelings of the same. Currently, there are collections inspired by Puerto Rico, Aruba, Cuba, and Jamaica. The jewelry in every collection is (mostly) gold, complemented with pops of color. There are a couple dozen earring designs, two necklace designs plus the option for custom name designs, and one bracelet design in three finishes. Their fine jewelry collection takes everything up a notch with pieces featuring diamonds and 18K gold for an added level of sophistication.
With prices starting at $40, Jam + Rico pieces will require some investment. Pieces in the signature collections cost up to $185. If you are looking for something a little more exceptional, Jam + Rico’s fine jewelry collection ranges from $5,400 to $13,300. While I will be saving up for the signature collections pieces I have my eye on, Jam + Rico is part of Target’s 2022 Black History Month campaign, so there are special designs available for just $10!
I think that one of the reasons that I gravitate towards Jam + Rico is because everything about it is what I aspire to be: simple and elegant with a little bit of fun. Bold earrings, inspired necklaces, classic bracelets. I am excited to add more pieces from Jam + Rico to my jewelry collection.
Happy Buying!
