My favorite sweet treat is a cupcake. They are big enough that I am getting my sugar fix, but not so big that I walk away from the table feeling guilty. Plus, buying from a black owned bakery makes my smile extra big. Here are a few of my favorites to get started:
SweetArt
Price: $1.25-$4
This is my favorite spot in all of St. Louis City and County. This place is full of love and magic that you feel as soon as you walk in, and I love it. Literally every cupcake I’ve ever had from this place has been delicious. They also have an array of vegan and gluten-free options and, seriously, you can’t tell the difference. There are also $2 Tuesdays and Cupcake Happy Hour on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If I had to choose a favorite, I think it would be the Chocolate Salted Caramel, although the Fauxstess is a close second. I usually get a half-dozen of mini cupcakes so I can indulge in a bunch of flavors without feeling guilty about eating six whole cupcakes in one sitting. The flavors change regularly, so make sure you visit often!
Cupcake Kitchen Houston Price: $3-$3.25
I was really excited when I found out about Cupcake Kitchen Houston and it definitely exceeded all my expectations. I just about fainted when I tasted the German Chocolate. As someone who doesn’t like coconut, the icing was the perfect balance of flavors.

The cupcake itself was soft and delicious. The Cookies and Cream cupcake was just as delicious and perfect. I HIGHLY recommend that y’all get to Cupcake Kitchen Houston as soon as possible.
CamiCakes Price: $1.50 – $3.25
CamiCakes used to be my special treat when I visited Atlanta. Now that I live here, I have to actively avoid passing by the seven locations in and around the city so I don’t go inside and go crazy. Every time I go to CamiCakes, I try a new flavor. I have yet to be disappointed. Every cupcake offers the perfect balance of cupcake and icing. I like to take the bottom of the cupcake and

put it on top of the icing like a cupcake sandwich (I accept that some may find this weird). My current favorite is a tie between the Sweet Potato and the Turtle, but I have a feeling that might change after I try the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream.

Kupcakerie Price: $2.65
I found Kupcakerie by accident, and it has turned out to one of the happiest accidents ever. I have sampled a number of their 15+ flavors and have loved every single one. My current favorites are Peanut Butta Have My Chocolate and Banana Pudding. The cupcakes are deliciously moist, perfectly flavored, and well balanced with the icing. It is everything you would want in a cupcake. If you are in the Atlanta area but cannot make it to their adorable shop in downtown East Point, you can order online, and they will bring you your cupcakes. It’s the ultimate win.
Endulge Price: $3.25 – $3.50
Endulge in East Atlanta is a new discovery, and it is a game changer for me. Honestly, these are some of the best cupcakes I have ever had. They are incredibly moist (even if you save them for a day) and perfectly flavored. There is a range of about 12

daily flavors, plus daily and monthly specials. I had the Chocolate Peanut Butter, and you will not go wrong with this choice. For the adults, there are alcohol-infused cupcakes, like Tipsy Turtle, which I can only describe as amazing. I can’t wait to go back.
Happy Buying!
